W3C Office in Greece Presence at the 69th Thessalonica International Fair
10-19 September 2004
The W3C Office in Greece participated in the 69th
Thessalonica International Fair (T.I.F.) by presenting a demo that involves
the CC/PP Protocol of the W3C.
This application, which was developed in the context of the "Question
How" project - funded by the EC - involves the adjustment of content,
according to the capabilities of the device displaying it. Thus, for example
TV content can be displayed through a mobile phone or through a Pocket PC.
Politicians of Greece watched the demo and among them were the Prime Minister
of Greece, Mr.
Kostas Karamanlis, the Minister of Development Mr.
Sioufas and Mr.
Tsohatzopoulos, member of the Greek Parliament. Through this presentation
they were informed for the demo and its capabilities, as well as about the
W3C contribution, as the Consortium that creates the World Wide Web Standards.
Also, the Secretary General for Research and Technology, Professor Tsoukalas,
watched the demo.
There was a lively interest in general, by journalists who came to the exhibition in order to watch the demo, as well as by other visitors at the fair, who were informed and made questions regarding the demo and its applications.
The presence of the W3C Office in Greece at the T.I.F. could be regarded as successful in the end of the day, since the broad public was informed about the World Wide Web Consortium and its activities, as well as by presenting the demo, that was thought to be of interest for the visitors who watched it.
